Gemini Theater Company was established in 1996 as an interactive children’s theater, and recognized as a non-profit organization on February 3, 1997. Gemini Theater Company occupies 6,385 square feet of The Factory at 7501 Penn Avenue; Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Its facilities consist of a 100-seat black box theater with back stage area, two rehearsal studio spaces, office space, box office, concession and lobby areas.

The Gemini Theater is a nonprofit organization which was established in 1996 by Lani Cataldi and Dennis Palko as an interactive, musical children’s theater company. Gemini Theater Company has grown over the past eight years, developing numerous programs and activities for children and adults, reaching over 45,000 through its Classic Children’s Theater, Pittsburgh New Play Festival, Special Needs Workshops, Tickets for Underprivileged Children Program, Summer Theater Camps, School Assembly Performances, Mentoring Program and Fieldtrips.

Our facility also provides performance and rehearsal space to various ‘homeless’ theater companies at an affordable rate. As a result of our programs, we have produced over 60 children’s plays, produced 18 new full-length plays (six of which were written by local Pittsburgh playwrights), hosted space for 20 young and developing theater companies, and worked in conjunction with over 25 other regional organizations to provide a positive and enriching environment in which to cultivate artistic skill.

In 2004, Gemini Theater Company redefined its vision to focus on children’s programming and has been recognized as a valuable community asset by its growing contribution base. The organization has received program support from The Heinz Foundation, Heinz Corporation, Comcast, Allegheny County Regional Asset District, The Grable Foundation, Giant Eagle Foundation, Duquesne Capital Management, Office Depot, Target, and other various small local businesses as well as the generous support by numerous individual donors in the community.
